This is a partial listing of garden centres and nurseries in Manitoba*, with more detailed listings for the Winnipeg capital region (*updated February  2018). Consult the Manitoba Yellow Pages for information on additional Manitoba garden centres of interest and check out individual websites to verify seasonal hours of operation for centres listed here. Many operations close in late fall and reopen in the spring for the gardening season. Larger centres may be open year-round or close for a portion of the winter months.

Jardins St-Leon Gardens

Originally a youth gardening project begun in 1979, Jardins St-Leon relocated from St. Leon, Manitoba to Winnipeg where it has evolved into a seasonal farmers’ market. The centre sells bedding plants and produce from roughly 200 local producers.

The Bosch family began their business as a market garden selling vegetables, gladiolas and later chrysanthemums in the 1940s, they continued to expand their product lines to include bedding plants and poinsettia crops and becoming Riverside Greenhouses until 2013. In 2014, they reorganized to now grow annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs under their original Red Valley name, with a specialty in container gardening and hanging baskets.

Ron Paul Garden Centre

Ron Paul Greenhouses and Garden Centre is one of Winnipeg’s larger centres. It is a family-run business that has been serving Winnipeg since 1965. Ron Paul’s offers annual bedding plants, perennials, hanging baskets, shrubs, trees, garden and landscape products, and gift ware. The centre closes for the winter and opens in March for the gardening season.

Sage Gardens was established in 1996 as a source for certified organic seeds and organic fertilizers and live plants that are neonicotinoide-free. Shelmerdine is one of the larger centres in the capital region. Shelmerdine products include perennials, bedding plants, hanging baskets,  garden and landscape products, and gift ware. As well, Shelmerdine offers Manitoba’s largest selection of trees and shrubs. It closed to the public for two months of the year in 2018 (from Christmas to February 26).

T&T Seeds

Established in 1946, T&T Seeds celebrates 73 years of service in 2018. The operation, originally within the city, specializes in garden seed and tree and shrub nursery stock for the home gardener. It re-located its seed and plant mail order business and in-person garden centre in 1975 to an acreage in the RM of Headingley, where it has a 16,000 sq.-ft distribution warehouse for its mail-order business and greenhouses for annual bedding plants.
